Choosing and planting trees under or near power lines

A bit of planning, along with choosing the right tree and planting it in the right place, goes a long way to avoiding problems with power lines and cables, minimising outages for you and your neighbours.

Under the Electricity (Hazards from Trees) Regulations 2003 trees must be kept clear of network power lines. Tree owners are responsible for maintaining their trees and there are penalties for not keeping trees clear of lines.

Here's a handy species selection and planting guide to help us all work together on trees.
